Bolt On Edge Padding (5032XX) is an edge padding system made of foam and vinyl strips which are applied directly to hard and exposed surfaces such as the walls of a gymnasium, poles, and equipment edges.

A Story Worth Telling

Think about a scenario- A middle school gymnasium had an un-padded steel column right next to the boundary line of its main basketball court only three feet away from it. A player trying to chase a ball hit the column in full sprint and required stitches following the incident, after which a thorough inspection of the whole gym was made.

The remedy that came as a result was easy and cheap: Bolt-On Edge Padding was installed to all exposed columns in the gym within a week.

Where It Gets Used

Padding is commonly screwed onto gym supports, low walls placed behind the volleyball courts, and the framework of exercise machines near any playing field where collisions occur quickly and forcefully.

Every place where the possibility of a player colliding into a hard surface exists is a perfect place to put the padding on. The process does not take longer than one hour per each part and does not require any help from outside.

A Safety and Liability Issue

There is actual liability on the part of schools and buildings when it comes to hard materials being present without protection in active play areas, and reviewers of insurance will often point out just such a problem.

Bolt On Edge Padding (5032XX) is just one of the easiest and most economical options to reduce this liability without changing a whole playground design. Anyone shopping around for Sport equipment for their building should consider this padding essential.

Choosing the Right Thickness and Fit

Not all edges require the same amount of protection. A thin edge next to the sidewalk might not require any padding at all, but the support pole near the court will definitely require some high-impact padding.

Taking an accurate measurement of the actual size of the danger spot will help you to ensure that the padding is not too loose. This way, facility managers won't end up having to order two sizes in a season.
